Cross-Border Financial Crime Coordination

The European Financial Bureau facilitates coordination between national law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units, and judicial authorities across EU member states in matters relating to financial crime, fraud, and economic offences.

Our office supports the exchange of information and evidence in cross-border investigations involving payment service providers, financial institutions, and regulated entities operating within the European Economic Area.

Mandate

Established under the framework of the European Investigation Order (Directive 2014/41/EU), the Bureau coordinates mutual legal assistance requests and facilitates the timely exchange of financial intelligence between competent authorities.

Areas of Focus

Payment fraud, money laundering, unauthorised transactions, identity theft involving financial services, and cross-border economic crime affecting consumers and regulated institutions within the EEA.

Cooperation Framework

The Bureau works in close coordination with Europol, national FIUs, public prosecution services, and financial supervisory authorities to ensure effective cross-border enforcement.

Data Protection

All information requests and processing activities are conducted in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Law Enforcement Directive (EU) 2016/680.
